Recovery brings a lot of questions, emotions and factors to the surface that maybe we aren't ready for, or that spark a want for transformation or change. If you're seeking for transformation... seek no further than yourself! It starts with you.
Conscious Awareness
We all have a conscious awareness and are aware of things that need to change. We have a sense of "awareness" to change a path, a memory, an action or behavior. This can be recovery based or applied to life as well.
Self-Responsibility
We have a self-responsibility. We, as ourselves are in control. We have a responsibility to accept our reality, where we are in our lives, in recovery; where our relationships stand. We are responsible for how we recover. We are the creators and doers of our own worlds.
Forgiveness
We MUST forgive before we can move on to grounding and peace.
This step is keen in moving on. We have to forgive ourselves and our own trespasses as well as those who have trespassed against us. In addition to these actions, It's just as important to forgive as it is to leave it in the past. So after you're done forgiving these memories, these boundaries, these trespasses, leave it in the past. You won''t need them where you are going. There are bigger things ahead, I assure you!
Grounding
You've done the hard work- you've taken responsibility and forgiven... you're nearly there.
Now you're grounding. You're taking root in this new sense of understanding. Ground yourself in the new. Into the limitless opportunities available. Find out what makes yourself tick. Get in tune with your senses and your brain. Check in with yourself- how are you feeling? Truly Feeling?
Peace:
After you've done all of these things, you should begin to feel peace. Maybe not within the world and the crazy chaos going on around us- but peace within ourselves. The thought is this: once we can restore peace within ourselves and our minds and our hearts and our souls it comes with ease to make sense of what is going on around us.
This isn't an overnight process, these aren't five simple steps to success; this is like everything with recovery- it comes with effort and time.
You've made it this far, you've got this and even if you feel like you don't- understand that you will soon.
